We asked for your opinion on Connor Goldson’s departure and how his six years at Rangers will be remembered.

Here’s what some of you had to say…

Nigel: It’s sad to see him go and I think it will be years before we can replace him. Unfortunately, fans of this generation have less patience and less respect for the club’s defenders and may not realize how big a loss it represents until it is too late.

Dougie: The Rangers squad requires a complete overhaul with younger players. Goldson is part of this necessary reform.

Alexander: Goldson served the club well and that should be remembered, but Rangers were wrong to give him a much better contract in the second round. This is a decision that the club is now paying for.

Jude: The great man served the club well and we must not forget that, like all humans, he made mistakes, but I liked him and I wish him well for the future.

Scott: The best central defender we’ve had in the last six years! Persecuted by fans who are desperate to blame him and James Tavernier for our failures. The board, managers and strikers who can’t finish dinner are far above Goldson and Tav when it comes to looking for who to blame. No doubt form dropped, as did Tav, but the fans didn’t help. Who are we going to boo now?

Gary: A dedicated servant of the club, he has faced significant pressure from fans, likely affecting his confidence from time to time. During his injury period, we really missed him in the Champions League. However, his failure to clear the ball in the Europa League final will always remain a mystery.

Kevin: He was a decent, reliable player and always a danger in the opponent’s box. Over the last two seasons he has become a danger in our area, injuries seemed to slow him down and he wasn’t at the same level after he almost left a few years ago. He will be remembered, but not always in the best way.

Alan: Goldson was the rock in the Rangers’ defense for years. He was a great servant of the club. But as his powers are declining, the time is right to sell him. I wish him all the best.

Pedro: Devastated to see Goldson leaving. Solid and reliable central defender who has proven his worth over the years. Worried about losing experience in such a critical position with little coverage. I hope we get a good value for it.

Cameron: I think anyone who plays 300 times for Rangers should be treated as a fantastic servant of the club. But there comes a time when someone should move on and his performance over the last two seasons has been questionable. My concern now is replacing someone with his quality and ability to play 60 games a season!
