Ecuador appoints Sebastián Beccacece as new coach

Ecuador confirmed the appointment of Sebastián Beccacece as the new coach of the men’s national team on Thursday.

The 43-year-old previously managed Elche in Spain’s Second Division and is the replacement for former coach Felix Sanchez, who was fired after the country’s elimination from the Copa América.

Ecuador reached the quarter-finals of this summer’s tournament before falling to eventual champions Argentina on penalties.

Beccacece will now guide La Tri at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

He is the tenth Argentine to command the national team. He is also a former Chilean and Argentine national team employee.
