Manchester United have received a second bid from Fulham, thought to be worth £20m, for midfielder Scott McTominay.

United are expected to reject the bid, but the Scottish international’s future is again uncertain after West Ham tried to sign him last summer.

Speaking about the club’s pre-season trip to the United States, United manager Erik ten Hag said he was “pleased” to have McTominay in his squad, but stopped short of saying the 27-year-old Scottish international would remain at club.

The Old Trafford club is trying to raise funds to buy new players and injuries to defender Leny Yoro, who is set to miss three monthsand striker Rasmus Hojlund worsen the issue.

McTominay is entering the best years of his career and wants to be a regular starter.

Although McTominay made 32 Premier League appearances for United last season, 14 of them were on the bench, although he did start the FA Cup final victory over Manchester City at Wembley.

McTominay played the number 10 role in Wednesday’s 3-2 pre-season victory over Real Betis in San Diego.

However, with Bruno Fernandes still to join the main group to train after his Euro 2024 effort, Mason Mount hoping to stay fit and Casemiro still at the club when many thought he could make a summer move to the Pro- Saudi League, it is possible that a deal could eventually be done for the Scot.

When asked about the player’s future, Ten Hag spoke about how impressed he was with the former United academy player.

“I’m very pleased with Scott’s performance and very pleased to have him on my team,” said the Dutchman.

“Scott has a huge impact on the team’s performance with his spirit and playing in the advanced position he is very important.”
