MANCHESTER UNITED have seen a joint bid for Bayern Munich defenders Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui rejected, according to reports.
The Red Devils’ efforts to bolster their defense have been disrupted by the injury to new signing Leny Yoro, who will be sidelined for three months with a foot injury suffered in pre-season.
De Ligt did not travel with the Bayern squad to South Korea for pre-season games, as he intends to leave Germany.
Former West Ham target Mazraoui, who also played under the Dutchman for Ajax, could come in to compete with Diogo Dalot for the right-back position.
United had hoped their joint offer would be enough to secure the targets, but the bid was rejected by the Bundesliga giants, according to The Athletic.
It is not yet known how much was put at stake to snap up the pair, although United’s £30m bid for De Ligt was rejected last week.
Agent Rafaela Pimenta, who manages both players, was reportedly shocked by Bayern’s change in stance.
New manager Vincent Kompany informed the defenders that they were beyond needs ahead of the summer window.
Both players have reportedly agreed personal terms to five-year contracts at Old Trafford.
Since arriving in 2022, Ten Hag has spent almost £500m on transfers during his tenure.
