MIKEL ARTETA has been urged to “take Arsenal to the next level” by signing Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez.
The Gunners are evaluating offers for the Argentine striker and also for two Swedish strikers, Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres and Newcastle hero Alexander Isak.

Now, former Gunners and Chelsea defender William Gallas has singled out the restless Alvarez as the “big signing” Arsenal need to make a difference.
The former French star, 46, said Genting Casino: “He is a world champion, winner of the Copa América, he won the Premier League twice in a row and he won the Champions League.
“He played most of City’s important games and is a starter for Argentina, he would bring a lot of winning experience and… wants to reach his highest level by playing as many minutes as possible.
“Alvarez would take Arsenal to the next level. I don’t know if he could score 20 goals, but he can play on the wings or behind the striker and be very influential.”
The 36-cap star, 24, has a contract at the Etihad until 2028.

Alvarez said: “There’s a lot of talk. I’m focused here [at the Olympics] because it’s a short tournament.
‘At City I feel very good, I played a lot of minutes. But we’ll see after the Games. First, if I can, I’ll take a few days off. Then we will decide.”
Alvarez has scored 36 goals in 103 games for Guardiola’s team since arriving from giants River Plate in 2022.
