De Gea had a new contact pending at Old Trafford after agreeing to cut his salary from £375,000 to £200,000 a week.

But the club asked him to delay signing the deal while they considered their options.

Man Utd finally brought in Andre Onana and the 33-year-old’s departure came to light on his wedding day when he married his wife Edurne Garcia.

De Gea has reportedly received offers to return to football, with the likes of Newcastle, Nottingham Forest, Real Betis and clubs in Saudi Arabia interested in January.

But the goalkeeper chose to remain without a club.

This summer, he is said to be in negotiations with Italian clubs Genoa and Fiorentina.

However, multiple allegations say he turned both down after they failed to meet his salary demands.

TEAM TALK report that De Gea wants a £5m-a-year contract, which would see him earn £80,000 a week.

His “unrealistic” wage demands are outside Genoa’s budget and Fiorentina were only able to give him a £4m-a-year contract.

De Gea has been keeping fit, regularly posting videos of himself training on social media.
