Malachi Boateng has joined Heart of Midlothian from Crystal Palace for an undisclosed fee.
The 22-year-old defensive midfielder has signed a three-year contract with Tynecastle.
He goes straight into the Hearts squad with a place on the bench for Saturday’s home game against Rangers.
The London-born player has previous experience in Scotland following loan spells at Queen’s Park and Dundee.
Last season he made 36 appearances for the Dens Park club.
“In Malachi we have a strong, athletic midfielder who wins and plays ball,” coach Steven Naismith told the club’s website.
“We did most of our recruiting early, but we are always assessing our different needs and with some players injured, that prompted us to act quickly.”
