Cardiff City’s Isaak Davies, Jamilu Collins and Kion Etete are all set for long periods out with injuries.

The trio missed the Bluebirds’ 2-0 pre-season victory over Bristol Rovers at the Memorial Ground.

And manager Erol Bulut has confirmed that Wales under-21 international Davies, Nigerian left-back Collins and striker Etete will miss the start of Cardiff’s 2024-25 season.

“Kion is injured, Isaak is injured and JC is also injured in the last game in Austria against Hertha,” Bulut told BBC Sport Wales.

“It looks like Isaak Davies will be out for four months, Kion will be out for three months and with JC, six to eight weeks.

“Those were the negative things, but that’s football.”

Callum Robinson, David Turnbull and Mark McGuinness also missed the clash with League One side Rovers.

Robinson and Turnbull were rested after playing the entire 2-1 victory over Reading at Cardiff City Stadium three days earlier.

And Bulut confirmed that defender McGuinness has been ruled out of the squad as a precautionary measure due to a muscle complaint.

“We protected him today because he was feeling a muscle issue,” Bulut said on McGuinness.

Aaron Ramsey and Joe Ralls scored in each half as the Bluebirds beat League One Bristol Rovers in their final pre-season game.

Cardiff begin their 2024-25 Championship campaign against Sunderland in south Wales on August 10 (12:30pm BST).
