EDDIE HOWE has released an update on Newcastle’s transfer business amid talks with Marc Guehi.
The Magpies have reportedly opened talks with Crystal Palace over a potential move for Guehi this week.
But manager Howe admits he is unaware of exactly what is going on in the negotiations.
Speaking after Newcastle’s shock 2-0 defeat to Yokohama F Marinos on Saturday, he said: “Our efforts in the transfer market continue.
“I’m out of step with all these movements.
“I know we’re trying. We hope to be able to bring you news soon. I’m not going to talk about individual businesses.”
Palace are expected to demand a fee of at least £60m for Guehi.
The centre-back has rejected a new contract at Selhurst Park and his current contract expires in two years’ time.
Guehi has also received interest from the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham Hostpur and Manchester United in recent months.
He was one of England’s most impressive players during this summer’s Euro 2024 campaign.
