Porto completes epic comeback and beats Sporting in the Portuguese Super Cup

Porto were crowned Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira champions after recovering from a 4-3 extra-time victory over Sporting Lisboa on Saturday.

Chasers: Inácio 6′, Gonçalves 9′, Quenda 24′; Galeno 28′, 66′, González 64′, Jaime 101′

Sporting had their mouths open 10 minutes into the final when Gonçalo Inácio headed in the opening goal before Pedro Gonçalves’ shot doubled their lead.

Porto were left shaking their heads when Geovany Quenda scored the third goal midway through the first half, and it was a mountain to climb.

But then, Vítor Bruno’s men finally appeared and scored four unanswered goals, winning their 86th official title.

Wenderson Galeno pulled one back after slotting past goalkeeper Vladan Kovačević, before securing two goals after the break.

Among the shots, Nico González controlled a cross just above the penalty mark and shot towards the goal.

All square, things went into extra time and a dramatic winner decided this potential comeback of the century.

Substitute Iván Jaime’s deflected shot from outside the box went under the post and past Kovačević, seeing Porto win 4-3.
