ENGLAND ace Phil Foden shows he is a man of the people – on £14-a-day fishing holiday around the Cotswolds.
The £200,000-a-week Manchester City star snubbed exotic destinations popular with his Three Lions team-mates to spend five days with his father fishing for carp, tench, catfish, pike and perch.
A spectator at Linear Fisheries in Witney, Oxfordshire, said: “Phil was happy when Larry camped in a cheap tent,
“He was so down to earth and was determined to try and catch a carp as the lake has some absolutely huge carp.
“While his English friends lived in posh hotels near the beaches, the most luxurious thing Phil had on holiday was a Portaloo.”
Foden, 24, was relaxing after the Euros before returning to the City squad as they prepare for the new season.
He is an avid fisherman and has bragged about his big catches on Instagram.
Foden started fishing with his father, Phil Senior, as a boy and has previously said: “It’s the perfect hobby to rest your legs and spend some free time.”
Before heading to Germany for the Euros, Foden managed a break in the sun, heading to Marbella, Spain, in June with his girlfriend Rebecca Cooke.
Rebecca gave birth to her third child during England’s run to the final, and Foden flew home to be with her.
The couple already have son Ronnie, five, and daughter True, one, but have not yet revealed the name of the new arrival.
