WWE superstar Bobby Lashley has confirmed he underwent surgery following a “freak accident” amid intense contract speculation surrounding his future.
Lashley48 years old, he has been among the most dominant professional fighters in the world since his return to the company in 2018, when he became two-time world champion.
However, The All Mighty hasn’t been seen in the ring since May, when he was injured during a non-televised live event in France and had to go under the knife.
The formerWWE Champion clarified his physical status, but added that he is making incredible progress and could return to action in less than a month.
Lashley said The Laboratory: “I had surgery. A little boo boo happened in France during a match. Just a freak accident.
“They told me I shouldn’t come back for six months. Six weeks, I took off the braces and I’m working out.
“My physical therapist said, ‘You shouldn’t be able to do this.’ I’m different. I’m working out and lifting weights.
“I don’t think I’ve been out of surgery for two months and I’m suffering a lot.
“I think I’ll be ready and released in less than a month. At that point, we’ll see what happens.”
Fans, however, fear they may never see Lashley in a WWE ring again as his contract status is reportedly up in the air.
Reports suggested the American grappler’s deal would come to an end last weekend.
Last week, it was also reported that most people in WWE were “under the impression” that the heavyweight was leaving.
AND Fighter noted that “there were no creative plans for him at the company in the future.”
