WWE boss Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque has hinted that he is open to hosting WrestleMania in London over the next four years.
British pro wrestling fans have been begging wrestling giants to bring Showcase of the Immortals across the pond for decades.
It all started when WWE hosted SummerSlam at Wembley Stadium in 1992, but the wrestling giants wouldn’t hold another major pay-per-view event in the UK for another 30 years.
Instead, they put together RAW and SmackDown episodes, as well as some non-televised house shows and smaller events called Insurrextion.
But everything changed in 2022 when the Principality Stadium hosted Clash at the Castle in Cardiff, sparking new hopes that WrestleMania would finally come to Britain.
And the mayor of London Sadiq Khan appears determined to make that dream a reality, as he has promised to bring some of the biggest sporting events to the capital if he is re-elected on May 2.
Khan has promised to lead the effort to bring the Superbowl, the NBA and WrestleMania to London.
And the mayor will also seek to bring the Olympic Games in 2040.
Khan tweeted: “London is already the sporting capital of the world.
“If I am re-elected next Thursday, we will go even further.
“We will try to bring WrestleMania, the Superbowl and the NBA to London and mount another bid for the 2040 Olympics.”
WWE Chief content officer and chief creative officer Triple H appears open to finally hosting the first WrestleMania outside of North America.
And the 14-time world champion responded to Khan on social media saying he is open to negotiations.
Triple H replied: “Let’s talk.”
Khan showed he was serious when he quickly responded: “I’ll be in touch.”
Jubilant WWE fans flooded the comments section as they called for The Game to “give the people what they want.”
One fan tweeted: “YESSSS SIRRRRRR. FINALLY SOME REAL FIGHT AT WEMBLEY.”
Another commented: “OMG IT’S (POSSIBLY) HAPPENING!!!”
A third wrote: “Looks like Wembley is about to break its all-time record.”
This fan said: “FINALLY MANIA WHERE I LIVE I’M SO ALIVE”.
And that one begged: “Wrestlemania 41, please, Hunter.”
