JERRY ‘THE KING’ LAWLER has reportedly been fired by WWE after more than THREE DECADES with the promotion.
Fan favorite Lawler, 74, has been part of the WWE furniture since December 1992.
But his journey in wrestling’s premier promotion has come to an end.
This is in line with PW Insiderwho claim that WWE bosses “refused” to renew the legend’s contract.
Sources close to the wrestling website were shocked by Lawler’s departure.
They are quoted as saying: “The old company is dead.
“People can say they hate Vince [McMahon] and Kevin [Dunn] whatever they want, and they would be right to do it.
“But certain people would have been taken care of.
“Lawler would have been one of them, but this isn’t the old WWE.
“Howard Finkel, God bless him, wouldn’t have a lifetime job here either.”
WWE fans around the world were shocked by the News of Lawler’s supposed departure, which has not yet been confirmed.
One wrote on X: “How the hell doesn’t WWE find something for Jerry ‘The King; Lawler do?”
Another said: “He’s one of the best at commentary.”
And another said: “Thank you Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler for 32 years in WWE.
“You changed wrestling forever, see you in the future when we see you.”
One commented: “I truly believe Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler will always be a part of WWE family.
“Even if it’s not in an official capacity, as if it were under some contract.”
Another chimed in: “One of the GOATs in WWE. Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler.”
Lawler – who began wrestling in the 1970s – began his WWE career as an announcer for WWF Superstars of Wrestling in 1992.
He briefly left the company in 2001 following the firing of his then-wife Stacy ‘The Kat’ Carter.
Lawler made several in-ring appearances following his decision to become a part-time wrestler, including at the 2012 Royal Rumble.
From him health It has not been the best in recent years due to the spills it suffered in 2018 and 2023.
But the beloved Hall of Famer recently insisted he was in good shape, saying, “My health is great.
“I just [went] I went to the doctors to get back on the road after my knee replacement.
“And then, of course, still some small difficulties of the stroke.
“But all these things are happening quickly.”
