He climbed to the top of the mountain once again at WrestleMania in April, defeating Seth Rollins to become world heavyweight champion.

However, after an attack by CM PunkDamian Priest cashed in his Money in the Bank contract to beat him and claim the belt.

McIntyre and Punk have been feuding ever since, despite both suffering injuries.

But last weekend there was a big chance for Scottish Terminator redemption at home.

WWE headed to Glasgow for its spectacular Clash at the Castlewhich had as its main event a title rematch involving Scot and Priest.

The champion suffered a serious leg injury in the early stages and McIntyre looked ready to take advantage and regain the championship.

But after landing his Claymore kick while the referee was injured, another official rushed in to take the count – only to discover it was Punk, who stopped at two before giving his rival a two-finger salute.

A stunned McIntyre began to choke out his arch-nemesis, but was soon hit with a low blow before Priest connected with his submission and claimed victory.

And this was due to the build-up to a potential SummerSlam showdown with McIntyre.

But now that plan has gone up in smoke after he stormed out and left WWE on Monday Night Raw.

McIntyre came out to face the audience on Raw, but as the crowd chanted Punk, his anger boiled over.

“Screw this company, I quit,” he fumed before dropping the microphone and storming out of the arena.

The irate Scot doubled down when he was confronted by general manager Adam Pearce on the way to the back.

He then reiterated this to legendary WWE boss Triple H in the gorilla position backstage before leaving the building.

And if that wasn’t enough, he caused further speculation about his future by deactivating all of his social media accounts.

Although the move appears to be part of a storyline, it still left fans wild as they waited for the next chapter in the rivalry between him and Punk.
