WRESTLING is filled with big personalities, both in and out of the ring, and WWE announcer, interviewer and announcer Kayla Braxton certainly fits the bill.

Kayla Braxton shocked her fans, followers and wrestling enthusiasts when she announced her departure from WWE.

Why is Kayla Braxton leaving WWE?

On Saturday, June 22, 2024, Kayla Braxton posted an emotional message on her social media, revealing that she would be leaving her former job at WWE.

“After almost 8 years holding the mic on WWE television, I’m getting ready to move on to my next chapter,” she posted on Instagram.

“Next week, in the most famous arena in the world, I will be officially calling it quits.

Braxton was referring to WWE Friday Night SmackDown at Madison Square Garden, scheduled for June 28, 2024.

“During my years in WWE, I managed to master the art of the backstage interview.”

“I hope I was able to turn minutes into moments for those of you who watched week after week and maybe even usher in a new fan base.”

“My banter with Paul Heyman has become the stuff of legend and I am so grateful for everything he did to elevate my career.”

Heyman, a professional wrestling manager, executive and former promoter, appears regularly on SmackDown as manager of The Bloodline.

“I gained a lot of knowledge from the Sage and for that I will be forever grateful.”

Braxton then delved into one of the main reasons for his departure: his recent move to California.

“I left “The Bump” after over 200 shows and moving to Los Angeles.”

“Now, on the West Coast, I have been offered new opportunities that will further utilize the skills I gained working for the largest sports entertainment company in the world.”

She also thanked several key figures at WWE, along with the organization itself.

“I am extremely grateful to Triple H, Nick Khan, WWE and all of its partners for allowing me to be a trusted voice on WWE television all these years.”

“Thank you to every person who made me feel like this was my home and that I was part of this family.”

“Thank you for giving me a chance and welcoming this stranger with open arms.”

“I hope I made you proud and I would love it if you stayed with me through this next chapter.”

Braxton did not provide details about what opportunities he has been offered or what is in store for his “next chapter.”

Instead, Braxton joked that she is “excited to reveal to you all what I’m going to do next!!!!”

How long has Kayla Braxton been with WWE?

Braxton’s tribute to his time in WWE was heartfelt and nostalgic.

She recalled her start in WWE in 2016 and how much she’s grown over the past eight years.

“In 2016, the legendary Michael Cole brought me in to begin my WWE career as a ring announcer for NXT, but I quickly found myself traveling the world, hosting hall of fame ceremonies, kickoff shows, and helping launch WWE’s first weekly morning show. WWE, “The Collision.”

Braxton signed with WWE in October 2016 and made her debut on the October 20, 2016 episode of NXT as a host and ring announcer.

On May 21, 2017, she appeared on her first pay-per-view wrestling show, serving as a backstage interviewer during Backlash.

During his time in WWE, Braxton appeared in several other pay-per-view events, including Battleground 2017, SummerSlam 2017, and Hell in a Cell 2017.

As a ring announcer in NXT, she has also appeared on Raw, 205 Live and SmackDown, working as a ring announcer and backstage interviewer.

After leaving NXT on August 17, 2019, Braxton was replaced by Alicia Taylor, a drummer and wrestling ring announcer.

Braxton then began working primarily on The Bump, serving as the wrestling show’s main host alongside Matt Camp, Evan T. Mack, McKenzie Mitchell, Ryan Pappolla, and Dan Vollmayer.

Each show began with the hosts covering major WWE and wrestling news, and featured guests in-studio and over the phone.

On August 22, 2020, Braxton, alongside Paul Heyman, began hosting Talking Smack, briefly renamed SmackDown LowDown.

His next and final appearance is scheduled for Friday, June 28, 2024, at the SmackDown event at Madison Square Garden.

Who is Kayla Braxton?

Kayla Braxton, born Kayla Becker, was born on June 7, 1991, in Wadley, Alabama.

After her mother was sent to prison, Kayla, then just nine years old, was sent to a foster home.

As a teenager, she found her voice by participating in public speaking competitions, eventually earning a degree in broadcast journalism from Belmont University.

After graduating from college, Braxton began hosting his own entertainment segment on TV and radio in a top 20 TV market in Orlando, Florida.

According to his Instagram, Braxton is a fan of horror films, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Beyoncé.

In her bio, she describes herself as a “TV presenter by trade Aspiring professional dad joke teller Horror movie aficionado ,”

On March 3, 2021, Braxton announced that she was bisexual, revealing the news on X, formerly Twitter.

“All my life I’ve had to choose,” she tweeted.

“”Are you black? You are white? Which bubble do you fill in on the SATs?”

“I always fill in ‘other’ because nothing applies to me. Tonight, I choose to have to choose.”

“Hello world. I’m Kayla. Oh. And yes – I’m Bi,” she tweeted, alongside a smiley face with sunglasses emoji.

On May 6, she performed in Los Angeles as part of Nextflix’s Netflix Is a Joke Festival 2024 event.

Braxton is currently represented by Paradigm Talent Agency.
