MOVING WWE Raw will be a “game-changing moment,” according to WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque.
Levesque appeared on The Pat McAfee Show and explained how the less restrictive nature of Netflix will be a huge boost for WWE.
“Right now, just as an example of we’re on Fox and if the crowd yells ‘Holy shit’ or something much worse, they just pick up that audio.
“Sometimes they take the photo and audio and it’s just a black screen,” Levesque said.
McAfee, who provides color commentary for Raw, pointed out that this happened earlier this year because a “Die Rocky die” sign could be seen on the screen during a segment featuring The Rock.
“We won’t have these problems with Netflix,” Levesque said.
“The ability to be live globally, the ability to see everything at once, anywhere – it’s a game-changing moment.
“I think in many ways, not to belittle other partners, because we want to be everywhere, but that’s where the world is going, is streaming services.
“You see the NFL putting its toe in the water, the NBA is, all sports are.”
As Levesque highlights, several other sports have signed agreements with streaming services.
This comes after Netflix’s early years, when the company tended to avoid sports and focus on showing movies and television shows.
The NFL currently has a deal with Amazon Prime to show Thursday games throughout the season.
And Netflix will make its NFL debut when the streamer shows two games on Christmas Day.
Netflix will air Monday Night Raw starting in January 2025.
The $5 billion deal raised eyebrows when it was announced earlier this year.
“In its relatively short history, Netflix has built a phenomenal track record of storytelling,” said WWE President Nick Khan.
