LOGAN PAUL sent fans into hysterics with his nod to a viral meme during WWE SmackDown on Friday.
Paul was facing Santos Escobar at Madison Square Garden when he took the opportunity to get laughs from the crowd.
The social media star turned wrestling champion was close to getting the better of Escobar, but saw the 40-year-old escape his grasp before the three count.
Frustrated by his mistake, Paul got carried away by pretending to spit in his opponent’s direction while saying “hawk tuah”.
The phrase “hawk tuah” swept the internet last week after a girl was labeled “Hawk Tuah Girl” following a viral video.
Hailey Welch became a household name after being interviewed on the street by Tim and Dee TV.
Welch pretended to spit with a noise spelled “hawk tuah” in an X-rated response after being asked about “a movement in bed that always drives a man crazy.”
With the video seemingly filling everyone’s social media feeds over the past few days, fans loved Paul’s reference during the WWE event in New York.
One wrote: “Logan Paul did a “Hawk Tuah” in the triple threat match and I’m dead.”
While another added: “Logan Paul just did a Hawk Tuah in the ring man this guy is not serious.”
A third joked: “No way did Logan Paul just say Hawk Tuah on live TV.”
And a fourth commented: “Logan Paul just did the Hawk Tuah in between a wrestling match. Take the belt away from this guy.”
Unfortunately for Paul, his attempt to cheer himself up didn’t help him win the match, despite winning the hearts of the internet.
The 29-year-old lost after being defeated by long-time rival LA Knight.
Paul’s antics also don’t make him the first sports star to reference the viral “hawk tuah” clip.
The worldwide video has has entered several major sports.
Fellow WWE star Liv Morgan referenced the clip backstage.
And UFC superstar Conor McGregor even sent a now-deleted tweet about the woman’s identity.
Fans at a LIV Golf event could be heard chanting the now-iconic phrase as Bryson DeChambeau slapped a shot across the fairway in Nashville.
And LSU gymnast Olivia Dunne even referenced “Miss Tuah” in the comments section on a social media post with her MLB pitcher boyfriend Paul Skenes.
