AFTER a serious neck injury in 2022, WWE star Big E is coming to terms with the fact that he may never wrestle again.
The 38-year-old, whose real name is Ettore Ewen, broke two vertebrae in his neck in March 2022.

The horrific injury occurred from a botched suplex, where Big E was hit directly on his head instead of being flipped over.
Both his C1 and C6 vertebrae were fractured in the fateful match against Ridge Holland two years ago.
Breaking his neck kept Big E out of wrestling for two years, but it looks like his wait will continue.
Big E shared an update with X’s fans that he may never be able to step into the ring again.
“Two years of neck scans are over. Things remain unchanged,” he wrote.
“My C1 [vertebrae] it healed fibrously, but did not form new bone. I am not medically cleared and in fact may never be cleared.
Big E revealed that he has recovered to the point where he is healthy and no longer feels uncomfortable.
He shared that he is “blessed to be free from pain, immensely happy and healthy. Life is good.”
Big E attempted to return a year after his recovery, but doctors advised him to stay away from wrestling even though he was making good progress.
“We had the annual check-up and everything looked great,” he said in August.
“But on the other hand, I’ve talked to spine experts, people who have worked at other people in the company and done their mergers, and they said, ‘Hey, I wouldn’t fight again if I were you.’”
BIG E’S FIGHTING CAREER
Big E didn’t start wrestling until 2009 and spent his time as a football player and weightlifter.
Ewen went to college at the University of Iowa and played defensive lineman for the Hawkeyes. He didn’t get much playing time and switched his focus to weightlifting.
Big E excelled in weightlifting and won his first competition at the 2010 US Open Championship. He broke all Florida weightlifting records in the 275-pound class.
His lifts included a 611-pound squat, a 490-pound bench press, and a 749-pound deadlift for a total of 1,850 pounds.
He would win again at the 2011 USAPL Raw Nationals with a total lift of 2,039 pounds.
Big E began his wrestling career in 2009 with Florida Championship Wrestling. This series was renamed by WWE to NXT in 2012.
At that time, Big E debuted on Raw and ended up becoming Intercontinental Champion in 2013.
Big E has won the WWE Championship, NXT Championship, Intercontinental Championship, Tag Team Championship and more.
