JOHN Cena shocked the WWE Universe by announcing his retirement on Saturday night.
The 47-year-old wrestling legend dropped the bombshell news at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view.

His final event will be at WrestleMania in 2025.
Cena entered the ring in characteristic style in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on Saturday.
But he quickly showed fans that this was no ordinary entrance into a WWE ring.
Cena simply said, “Tonight, I officially announce my retirement from WWE.”
He had a resigned expression on his face as he broke the news to his fans.
Huge gasps could be heard from the audience on the live TV broadcast.
Cena has been with WWE since 2001 – and will leave the brand after 24 years.
He said: “I’ve been doing this for a while now, I’ve been with WWE for over two decades.
“And in that period I saw incredible waves of prosperity like the ones we have now.
“WWE is the hottest ticket in town, without a doubt. And I also saw tremendous difficulties.
“It’s when no one knows your name, no one wants to be your friend and only the most dedicated and hardcore fans stick by your side.
“In all these years, one of the most important and impressive things I learned was whether WWE was hot or cold, the Canadians always showed up.”
The entire arena started chanting “Cena, Cena” and “Thank you Cena”.
Fans on social media also reacted to the shocking news.
“A childhood hero,” wrote one.
Final fantasy
Fans flooded social media following John Cena’s retirement announcement to beg for a dream WrestleMania match with Randy Orton.
Cena will retire after the showpiece event in Las Vegas, Nevada in 2025 and WWE fans are adamant about who they want to fight him.
And Orton once said in an interview, “If I can somehow find myself in a situation where I’m fighting Cena at WrestleMania for the title.
“I don’t know how you get there, I’m not saying it’s going to happen, but I’ve never fought John at WrestleMania in a singles match.
“We’ve had a few wars over the years. Being able to revisit that is not only something I would enjoy, but I think the fans would love it as well.”
“I could really cry,” posted another.
“Thank you, Cena. Wow, man,” said a third.
While one more commented: “I wasn’t prepared for this news today.”
Cena has confirmed that he will be part of WWE Raw’s move to Netflix next year.
He added that WrestleMania in Las Vegas in 2025 will be his last.
An emotional Cena said, “Thank you so much for letting me play in the house you built for so many years.”
