WWE legends The Bella Twins looked back on their past as the Hooters girls claimed it helped them launch their successful wrestling careers.
Nikki and Brie Bella, 40, are among the most popular female stars in professional wrestling history and were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2020.
The American twins, who now go by their maiden surnames Garcia after leaving the wrestling giants, came from humble beginnings.
Before hitting the ring, the two served hot wings to customers in San Diego.
The sisters remember those days with great affection as they tell their New York Post Office paved the way for their WWE careers.
The former women’s champions insist the chain’s Mission Valley restaurant helped boost their confidence when they worked there at age 19 before entering the demanding world of wrestling.
Brie said: “Working there, you really owned your feminine energy. As a waitress, you need to have the confidence to approach strangers and have a conversation.
“But we needed to have thick skin and not just confidence, but you had to own it.
“You’re going to men who are excited and want to go crazy. So we knew how to keep them in line and we all set boundaries for ourselves and didn’t take any crap from our clients.
“So it really taught me from a young age to stand up for myself and own the room and the table.
“And I think it really helped me in pro wrestling to take that attitude.”
Nikki agreed with her Bella Twin and also shared some secrets of the trade that made her job a lot easier.
The two-time women’s champion said: “Squeezing your cleavage. You’d be like, ‘Want more fries with that?’
“Yes, we were very creative. As with language, just saying, ‘I hope you had fun with Hooter-fic.’
“You just came up with this really sassy word like waitresses there.
“And let’s be honest, everyone loves seeing the Hooters girls doing YMCA and hula hooping — the tips were going up.”
