JACOB HENRY has declared himself a “future WWE superstar” – after announcing a deal to follow in the world’s strongest footsteps.

Dad Mark Henry is a WWE Hall of Famer who has won strongman crowns, a global weightlifting title and US national weightlifting championships.

Son Jacob perhaps has a broader sporting pedigree as a talented American football player and track and field star.

But nothing he’s done compares to what comes next now that he’s made such a big announcement.

To add to the drama, he chose to reveal the news at a Remix Rumble event in Cleveland, Ohio, where his father was on stage as a DJ.

Jacob said: “The crowd is here tonight, you seem very excited. I think it’s time, I think it’s time for people to know.

“I think you should be the first to know that I will be a future star and that was written down on paper.

“I have officially signed a contract with WWE.”

His words and sense of timing will have impressed the sport’s bosses – ahead of Saturday’s WWE SummerSlam in the same city.

Jacob’s powerful track record includes placing second in the 285-pound weight class of a state wrestling tournament in February.

But he’s still a young rookie in terms of fighting.

Henry Junior insists he will continue fighting for Oklahoma as his career develops.

He told the crowd, “Make sure you follow OU wrestling.”

That sounds like an admirably humble attitude – and he has a lot of work to do to come close to his father’s achievements.

Henry Senior, 53, is a two-time Olympian and has also won two WWE world titles, including the heavyweight title in 2011.
