The federal government sent to Rio Grande do Sul four water purifiers this Wednesday (8), whose combined capacity is to purify up to 20 thousand liters of water per day. Understand below how these devices work.
Developed by the Brazilian company PWTechthe device can work in two ways: transforming contaminated water from rivers, lakes and wells into drinking water or treating rainwater until it is suitable for human consumption.
Named PW5660the purifier is portable and, according to the developer company, capable of completely removing viruses and bacteria from the water, in addition to reducing up to 99.5% of fine solid particles suspended in the liquid (which make the water cloudy).
The device was designed to serve needy communities with difficulty accessing drinking water. Therefore, it was already created with specifications that facilitate use.
Among them are, for example: bivolt capacity, dimensions of 80 by 50 and 40 centimeters, and weighing 15 kilos. Furthermore, the device includes a solar panel that facilitates installation and portability.
PWTech states that the only infrastructure necessary for the purifier to function fully is a container to store drinking water after treatment.
The same type of equipment has already been tested in several situations and was even sent from Brazil to the Gaza Strip, in the Middle East.
In practice, the water purification process occurs in the same way as it would happen in a treatment plant. The collected water passes through a chlorinator and then through four filters with sensitive membranes that guarantee final quality.
