OpenAI said it will not launch a search product at the event. The company is working on a feature to rival Alphabet Inc.’s Google and AI search startup Perplexity.

Instead, the announcement will focus on an update to its popular chatbot, ChatGPT, and its AI model. It has been more than a year since the company launched its last flagship model, the GPT-4, and the launch of a new model is widely anticipated. However, the company said it will not release GPT-5, the long-awaited sequel.

In a post on X on Friday, CEO Sam Altman said: “It’s not gpt-5, it’s not a search engine, but we’ve been working hard on some new things that we think people will love! seems like magic to me.
