A NASA (United States Space Agency) revealed in a press conference this Tuesday (18) that the decoupling of Boeing’s Starliner spacecraftfrom the International Space Station (ISS) is scheduled to take place on the day June 25th, at 12:10 pm (Brasilia time).

The return, which was originally scheduled to take place last Friday (14), was changed to the 18th, today, when another change in the astronauts’ return date was announced. The aircraft can be docked at the ISS for a maximum of 45 days, according to NASA officials.

Efforts in these days that were not foreseen in the initial count were used to obtain more data about the spacecraft docked to the ISS and to review the helium leaks identified in the second launch attempt. The Starliner is expected to land on the day June 26th.

The spacecraft made its first manned launch on June 5th from the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, in Florida (United States), taking two NASA astronauts — Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams — to the ISS.

The professionals traveled with the aim of carrying out tests on the Starliner and finalizing the space agency’s certification so that the spacecraft can become part of NASA’s Commercial Crew Program, which provides for periodic manned flights to the ISS using the vehicle.
