BRUSSELS (Reuters) – The European Union has designated adult content platform XNXX as a large online platform (VLOP) under its Digital Services Act (DSA) as it has an average of 45 million monthly users in the EU, said Wednesday in a statement.

DSA rules require companies to share data with authorities and researchers, carry out risk management and be subject to external and independent audits.

They also allow the Commission to impose fines for incorrect, incomplete or misleading information in response to a request for information.

XNXX has four months to implement measures to protect online users, including minors, and address any systemic risks arising from its services, the Commission also said.

In December 2023, the EU designated three other adult content platforms – Pornhub, Stripchat and XVideos – as VLOPs.
