The emergence of social networks has changed the way humans interact with each other; If you don’t have access to at least one social network, you are considered strange, mainly because of generation Z — popularly known as gen Z, the group includes people who were born between 1997 and 2012, surrounded by technology. After Orkut, Facebook, Twitter and other networks, the service NoPlace arrived precisely to try to please young people who are looking for their digital space.

Founded by 27-year-old entrepreneur Tiffany “TZ” Zhong, NoPlace is a social network that mixes the microblogging concept of X (formerly Twitter) and, especially, MySpace. Despite being unknown to most of the current generation, the MySpace It was part of many people’s lives before disappearing and falling into oblivion.

As it is not a service focused on videos, like YouTube, TikTok and Instagram, it is possible that the new product will not achieve the same success as these other networks. Commonly, these platforms are powered by viral videos and content creators produce daily, which significantly drives popularity.

What is NoPlace and how does it work?

Launched in July 2024, the NoPlace app achieved a place among the most downloaded apps on the internet. Apple App Store; Until that moment, the app was only available to users who had received an invitation.

“I think some of the magic and fun of the internet is gone. Everything is very uniform. I’ve always loved social. Everything is just media. It feels very disconnected,” said NoPlace founder and CEO, Tiffany Zhongwhen explaining why he created the new platform.

With similarities to MySpace, we can describe the platform as a text-based social network, where users can follow their friends and share any type of information. There is even an option where you can list your 10 best friends, a feature similar to MySpace’s 8 best friends.

Discover some of NoPlace’s features:

  • Two feeds – Like Twitter, the network features an updates feed. In fact, two feeds are available to each user: one with all their friends’ content and the other with global updates. Under 18s receive a moderated feed.
  • Customization – One of the most popular features is the option to customize the style of your profile page, something similar to what is offered on Orkut. The aesthetics of the network were one of the points that helped with its virality and early fame.
  • Share what you’re doing – The user can post about what they are doing at that moment, for example, watching a movie or listening to music.
  • Feed with summaries – Different from the algorithm of large networks, NoPlace uses artificial intelligence to suggest popular publications and offer summaries of what has passed through your feed.
  • Level system – With the concept of gamification, NoPlace offers a level system. In it, users are rewarded when they spend more time on the platform or interact with other users. The level can be viewed on the profile itself.

With a simple interface, the service displays users’ posts chronologically and, for now, it is only possible to publish texts. In other words, those who prefer to publish videos and photos in the feed may not like the new option as much. As with X, there is a list of tags that can be accessed to explore topics of interest.

If you are a user Android or try to access NoPlace on your computer, I have bad news. Currently, the social network is only available to consumers who have devices with the system iOSfrom Apple.

NoPlace also allows you to leave likes and comments on publications, as well as chat with other users through private chat. To use the social network, simply download the application from the Apple App Store, register your phone number and create your profile.
