Nintendo Switch 2? What is known about the successor
So far, the Japanese company has made few comments about its next console, but behind-the-scenes partners have already revealed that they have received development kits for the production of the games. In a meeting with investors, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa stated that Nintendo will not experience any type of shortage in the production of the new console; the idea is to not allow scalpers to resell the device for high prices.
“Last year and the year before that, we were unable to produce a sufficient amount of Nintendo Switch hardware due to a shortage of semiconductor parts, but this situation has now been resolved. We do not believe that the parts shortage will have a significant impact on the production of the successor model at this time,” said Furukawa.
There is still no official release date for the Switch 2, but some rumors suggest that the console will be launched in 2025 — originally it was 2024, but the postponement may be related to the no-scarcity strategy mentioned by Furukawa.
