So far, the only way to experience Apple Intelligence features on an iPhone is through the iPhone 15 Pro. The entire iPhone 16 lineup is expected to receive the features this fall, but “you can also bet” that the iPhone SE, which will arrive “at the beginning of 2025”, will also have them, it says BloombergMark Gurman on today To connect newsletter. If that’s true, it could be a lot harder to pass up Apple’s cheapest phone.
The deal with the iPhone SE is that you get a cheap, reasonably powerful iPhone that recycles an outdated form factor (most recently, the iPhone 8). It has always been super obvious that this is a budgetary commitment from Apple!
The iPhone 16, which should be announced soon, should also have other advantages, such as dual cameras and the 15 Pro’s action button, which were not rumored for the iPhone SE. But how important are these characteristics to ordinary people? If the next SE looks like an iPhone 14, performs almost as well as the iPhone 16 lineup, and is priced like, you know, an iPhone SE, are they still going to overlook those savings for the niceties of more expensive iPhones? I guess we’ll find out soon enough.
