Apple’s Sunny makes everyone look suspicious in new trailer

First photos from the next Apple TV Plus series Sunny left little doubt that it’s a comedy, but the show’s new trailer makes it look like it’ll also be a solid (albeit silly) whodunnit that leaves you guessing.

Set in a semi-futuristic modern Japan, Sunny follows as Suzie Sakamoto (Rashida Jones) sets out to uncover the truth behind the supposed death of her husband Masa (Hidetoshi Nishijima). Between Masa’s plane crashing under mysterious circumstances and the disappearance of her body, life already seems strange for Sunny as she embraces her new identity as a widow. But when Masa’s colleague shows up on Suzie’s doorstep with a house robot named Sunny (Joanna Sotomura) as a bereavement gift, things start to take an even stranger turn.

Grief will certainly play a role SunnySuzie and Sunny’s most dramatic moments uncover the secret life that Masa kept hidden from his family. But there are enough weird jokes and twists in the trailer to make Sunny It looks like it will be a mystery worth checking out when it releases on July 10th.
