Threads is testing the option to automatically hide your old posts. Instagram head Adam Mosseri says The feature is only available to a “small number” of users for now, but will allow you to choose to manually archive individual posts or automatically archive them after a certain period of time.
You can see an example of what the feature might look like in Mosseri’s Threads post. Users with trial access should be able to manually archive their content by clicking the three dots in the top right corner of a post and selecting “Archive Now.” This will give users the option to hide certain posts on their profile, similar to the archive option on Instagram.
Mosseri says users can make their posts public again at any time. He also adds that this feature will not become the default in Threads. “I did some research… and the resounding feedback was don’t make this the default, so let’s try this as an option,” says Mosseri.
Users of X, formerly known as Twitter, have long requested the ability to archive posts on the platform, and many have turned to third-party services to hide their content. At least Threads could eventually have a built-in archiving option.
