Audible is testing a new section that provides audiobook recommendations based on your Prime Video viewing history. The trial is rolling out to half of all Audible and Amazon Prime users, and there is no way to opt out at this time.
If you have both services, you may see a new carousel in the mobile app and on the web titled “Based on what you’ve recently watched on Prime Video.” It will contain audiobooks relevant to what you watched on Prime Video, such as Dune, Ave Maria ProjectIt is Fourth Wing.
Audible is testing the change after seeing connections between new releases on Prime Video and the audiobooks people are listening to. For example, the average daily minutes of listening time for Jack Reach author Lee Child’s books increased 80 percent after the debut of Reach on Prime video in 2022. Audible has also partnered with Amazon MGM to co-produce TV series based on Audible audiobooks and podcasts.
“There is a natural synergy between TV, movies and books, and we see this clearly in the way our customers engage with content on Audible,” said Andy Tsao, director of product and analytics at Audible, in a statement. With Spotify now offering audiobooks, Audible is likely rolling out this feature to keep its audience hooked and listening.
