An important step in evolving Threads into a full-fledged social media platform is being more transparent about reach and distribution. And today, Instagram boss Adam Mosseri says the company is making it easier for anyone to see a post’s view count. “It’s important for people to understand how their posts are performing on Threads, so we’re rolling out the ability to tap anywhere on a post to view its total view count,” he writes.

As always, it will be a while before everyone has this option – I don’t see it in my app or on the web yet – but it will be a welcome window of performance for influencers, businesses, and regular users. At the very least, it’s always nice to know that you’re not just shouting into the void. “We have more work to do, but I think this is a great first step in providing creators with some of the data they have been asking for,” Mosseri added.

Meanwhile, on Instagram, the company is striving to increase the reach of smaller creators and prioritize original content rather than letting aggregator accounts get all the glory.
