Zhang Yiming founded TikTok’s parent company ByteDance, but previously served as CEO of 99Fang, a Chinese home location startup with “very powerful” technology for search, image processing and recommendations.

Now, The New York Times reports that former contractors who are suing Susquehanna, an investor in both companies, allege that technology they developed for 99Fang was used to create TikTok without compensating them.
