The YouTube Music app for Android is rolling out a feature that’s part Shazam and part your friend when you say, “Hey, what’s that song playing…” right before humming a beat. The feature lets you hum, whistle, sing or play a recording of a song to find out what it is.

If you have the new feature, you’ll see a new waveform icon next to the microphone icon that appears when you tap the search button in the top right corner of the app. Tap this and the app will start listening. It’s not that bad either! When I tested it, it was able to identify real recordings at what seemed like incredible speed, making it a great replacement for Shazam.

As far as hearing me hum, it accurately identified most of the songs I sang, whistled, and hummed on my phone, but there were some funny mistakes:

To be fair, some Tom Waits songs are good Halloween songs.

This should be “Dead,” from They Could Be Giants.

Hey, I accept.

I was whistling”Bat Out of Hell”By Meat Loaf here. At least Finnish hair metal band Reckless Love is at least in the stadium, sort of?

I can’t blame much for the flaws. I was releasing songs that I don’t think most people would understand after a few seconds of humming. Overall, it works quickly, perhaps faster than the same feature Google Assistant has had for years. Humming to Search has also been seen on YouTube Music for iOS in recent months, although it doesn’t yet appear to have been widely released there.
