Game studio co-founded by Dr Disrespect ‘immediately’ ending relationship with streamer

Midnight Society, the games studio co-founded by Dr Disrespect, has ended its relationship with the streamer. In a post on X, the studio wrote who was made aware on Friday of allegations that Dr Disrespect – whose real name is Herschel “Guy” Beahm – was banned from Twitch in 2020 for having sex with a minor. The studio said it launched an investigation in response.

“We assumed his innocence and began talking to the parties involved. And to maintain our principles and standards as a studio and as individuals, we needed to act,” the studio’s post read. “For this reason, we have immediately terminated our relationship with Guy Beahm.”

The announcement came just an hour after Beahm ended your first stream since the allegations surfaced. On the broadcast, Beahm said he was “tired” and thinking about “leaving the scene.” He suggested that he might leave the Midnight Society as part of this process. “Maybe I’ll stay away from there too,” he said.

In 2020, Beahm was banned from Twitch at the height of his popularity and shortly after signing a two-year exclusive contract with the platform. Neither Twitch nor Beahm explained why, leading to four years of mystery and speculation. On Friday, former Twitch employee Cody Conners posted in X the supposed reason for Beahm’s permanent ban.

“He was banned because he was caught having sex with a minor on the then-existing Twitch Whispers product,” Conner wrote. On Sunday, On the edge reported that a second Twitch employee who worked on the platform’s trust and safety team at the time of the incident came forward to corroborate Conner’s post.

Beahm denied the accusations in posts to. “I did nothing wrong, this was all investigated and resolved, nothing illegal, no wrongdoing was found and I was paid,” he wrote on Saturday.

In its post announcing Beahm’s termination, the Midnight Society wrote: “While these facts are difficult to hear and even more difficult to accept, it is our duty to act with dignity on behalf of all individuals involved, especially the fifty-five developers and families we employ alongside our gaming community.”
