Dr Disrespect finally shares why he was banned from Twitch

THE TWITCH BAN

Hello, I would like to make a quick statement..

Let’s stop the nonsense, as you know, there is no filter with me. I have always been sincere and sincere with you in everything I can be sincere and I am always willing to accept responsibility… and that is why I am here now.

First of all, I want to apologize to everyone in my community, as well as those close to me, my team, and everyone at Midnight Society Game Studio.

Many people were left in the dark about what happened yesterday with the Midnight Society and me, and we made the painful decision collectively to have me resign. Our team is full of incredibly talented and kind people with great professional and family ambitions, and I would never want to compromise the culture we have carefully created.

Everyone wants to know why I was banned from Twitch, but for reasons beyond my control, I haven’t been allowed to say anything for the past few years. Now that two former Twitch employees have gone public with the allegations, I can tell my side of the story regarding the ban.

Were there whispered messages with a minor in 2017? The answer is yes. If there were real intentions behind these messages, the answer is absolutely no. They were casual, mutual conversations that sometimes tended too much to be inappropriate, but nothing more. Nothing illegal happened, no photos were shared, no crimes were committed, I never met the individual. I went through a lengthy arbitration regarding a civil dispute with Twitch and the case was resolved through a settlement. Let me be clear: this was not a criminal case against me and no criminal charges were filed against me.

Now, from a moral point of view, I will absolutely take responsibility. I should never have had these conversations in the first place. That’s on me. That’s up to me as an adult, husband and father. This should never have happened. I understand. I’m not perfect and I will own my shit. That was stupid.

Now with all that said, make no mistake, I have seen all the comments and labels being used so loosely. Social media is a kill zone. I am not a predator or pedophile. Are you kidding me? Anyone who really knows me knows where I stand on these types of people. Fuck that. That’s a different level of disgust that I hate hearing about. Don’t label me as the worst of the worst with your exaggerations. Get the hell out of here with this shit.

But I think I’ve said what I needed to say about the ban itself. And that. This is why Twitch made the decision in 2020.

To my team, community, and industry friends who have supported me, I apologize, I wish I had said all of this sooner. You have always shown love and support to me and my family throughout all these years, we love you like you can’t even imagine. I have the best community and circle. If any of this made you uncomfortable, I understand. You no longer have to support me, but know that you have always been greatly appreciated.

But believe me when I say this… to all my haters who live and breathe social media with no real life experience, I don’t give a shit about you.

Finally, if you feel uncomfortable with this whole statement and think I’m shit, that’s okay. But I’m not going anywhere, damn it. I’m not the same guy who made that mistake years ago. I am taking an extended vacation with my family, as mentioned in the broadcast, and will be returning with a huge weight on my shoulders.
