Dr. Disrespect’s Twitch ban, explained

When streamer Samantha Wong told Twitch that she had been sexually harassed by another person connected to the Twitch community, the report reached the top. A Twitch vice president who has since left the company, Justin Wong, says he forwarded his allegations to Twitch’s CEO, Twitch’s head of HR, and a vice president who managed Twitch’s relationship with the accused person. “Everyone assured me this would be resolved,” he wrote on twitter.

But a year later, the accused was still being featured on Twitch. According to Samantha Wong, who broadcasts under the name Sampai, the person she reported for harassment was not only still allowed to participate in Twitch events, but was also given the opportunity to appear in segments on the official Twitch channel. “You, as a company, minimized and dismissed my sexual harassment,” she wrote on twitter.
