YouTube has released an improved eraser tool that allows creators to remove copyrighted music from their videos while keeping the rest of the audio intact. The renewed tool, launched this week, was first reported by TechCrunch.

The Erase Song feature allows creators to mute copyrighted songs in their content, the company announced in a video. The tool already existed as a beta feature, but it wasn’t always accurate.

The updated Erase Song feature uses an “AI-powered algorithm” to help you more accurately identify and remove copyrighted music without affecting other audio in a specific clip. That’s the goal, at least.

But even the new and improved version doesn’t always produce perfect results. Therefore, in cases where the tool is unable to eliminate copyrighted content, creators can mute all sound in sections of the video that have been flagged for containing copyrighted material.

from YouTube support page says the Delete Music tool “may not work if the music is difficult to remove,” so muting the audio could help remove a Content ID claim against a video.
