Elon Musk may have just won approval for a $56 billion pay package from his adoring supporters, but someone in Fort Lauderdale is clearly not a fan of the controversial CEO. Last week, dozens of Tesla Cybertrucks were defaced with the words “Fuck Elon” in black spray paint, according to Inside EVs quoting local reporting.

Police say 34 stainless steel trucks were marked with the message, which was discovered on Friday. The Cybertrucks were stored in the public parking lot without any fencing or security, likely held back because of a previously reported windshield wiper issue. Tesla is also facing an inventory buildup as a result of cooling demand for its electric vehicles.

Local media reports that the spray paint was easily removed, with some trucks still showing some black stains. But thanks to some social media accounts, we can still experience uncensored footage as much (or as little) as we want.

Is the graffiti a sign of growing discontent with Musk and, by extension, Tesla, or is it just the work of a lonely eccentric who saw a bunch of Cybertrucks in a parking lot and was inspired to do some redecorating.

The Cybertruck has certainly been a polarizing addition to Tesla’s lineup, thanks to Musk’s demands that the vehicle look like some sort of post-apocalyptic vehicle, Blade runner– inspired fever dream.

In the months since its launch, the truck has accumulated many problems, from complaints about build quality to disappointment with its range to a massive recall due to a faulty accelerator pedal. The latest issue – a “hold back” on deliveries to fix a faulty wiper blade – is just the latest sign that the hottest vehicle in modern history is going through a lot of growing pains.

My prediction: Musk starts selling special edition “Fuck Elon” decals for the Cybertruck, just like he did in the infamous broken window demo. The guy hasn’t found an insult he can’t monetize.
