GAMESCOM is just around the corner, with game developers, press and fans from all over the world heading to Cologne to take part in one of the biggest games fairs on the planet.

Gamescom typically offers hundreds of games for attendees, and some of the biggest developers on the planet are in attendance, including Nintendo, Xbox, Capcom, and more.

Games that haven’t even been announced yet are also often on display, making it a highly desirable destination for any video game fan.

But not everyone can watch the show in person, and while there won’t be many opportunities to play if you’re not there, fans at home can at least stay tuned for big game announcements.

This usually happens through Opening Night Live, a two-hour event that officially opens the show and typically features many major announcements for upcoming games, including new ones.

Gamescom Opening Night Live is hosted by Geoff Keighley, best known as host of other major gaming events like Summer Game Fest and The Game Awards.

The show is broadcast live around the world, so players everywhere can tune in and see the latest announcements.

Geoff Keighley has announced the games that will be shown during Opening Night Live, and there are some pretty big games showing up.

The biggest game on the list is Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, the highly anticipated next game in the Call of Duty series.

It’s unknown what announcements will be coming for Black Ops 6, as many of the details about the game are already known, but it’s still exciting for fans of the series.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 gave fans their first look at Zombies gameplay a few days ago, and the game mode’s return was exactly what fans were hoping for.

However, two games are likely to receive release date announcements – Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and Monster Hunter: Wilds.

The Indiana Jones game is expected to be released sometime this year, while the next Monster Hunter game will be released in 2025.

Here’s the list of Opening Night Live’s biggest games, courtesy of Geoff Keighley:

  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 6
  • Wild Monster Hunter
  • Marvel Rivals
  • Awakening of the Dunes
  • Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
  • Civilization VII by Sid Meier

Keighley also confirmed that there will be new game announcements at the show.

One game that almost certainly won’t be at the show is GTA 6, but that doesn’t mean Rockstar games won’t make an appearance.

Many speculated that the PC version of Red Dead Redemption could be announced during the show, after a strange PlayStation Store leak accidentally revealed the game.

Opening Night Live will be broadcast worldwide on August 20, 2024 at 7pm BST.
