FORTNITE made a controversial change that angered many players.

The change hid certain emotes that players spent real money to purchase.

Laugh It Up, Take the L, Whipcrack, and Make It Bananain are all emotes that players can purchase from the Item Shop and the new change makes them feel useless.

Fortnite has labeled these emotes ‘clash’ and the latest update disables them by default.

If you go into settings, you will see that emotes are only available “From Friends In Party”, meaning you will only see them if you are friends with the player using them.

Otherwise, the character performing the emote will stand still to hide the emote from you.

This is funny in its own way, as you know they are performing one of four emotes, but you’re not sure which one.

This change aims to reduce toxic behavior in the player base, as people may use these emotes to provoke others.

However, some people still see the fun in this, so you may want to re-enable emotes for your game.

If you want to reactivate emotes, you first need to go into settings and go to ‘Account and Privacy’.

From here, you’ll see an option titled ‘View Showdown Emotes’ and can choose the level of visibility you want.

You can turn them off completely or choose ‘From anyone’ to ensure you always see them.

Don’t worry if you change your mind in the future, as you can change this setting at any time.
