PLAYSTATION has been on top this year with a series of popular exclusives.

More recently, people have been loving Stellar Blade, but before that people were deeply involved with Helldivers 2.

Helldivers 2 is an online multiplayer shooter where players work together to complete missions in the name of Super Earth.

Although it is exclusive to the PlayStation console, it is still available for those who want to play on PC.

Since its launch, all you needed was a Steam account if you wanted to play, but PlayStation is changing the way it works.

An announcement was shared by the team revealing that players would also need a PlayStation account if they wanted to play, even if they were playing on PC.

The statement reads: “We have allowed the requirements for linking Steam accounts to a PlayStation Network account to be temporarily optional. This grace period will now expire.

“Starting May 6th, all new Helldivers 2 players on Steam will be required to connect their Steam account to a PlayStation Network account.

“Current Steam players will begin to see mandatory login starting May 30th and will be required to have a linked Steam account and PlayStation Network account by June 4th.”

So, depending on whether you’re a new or returning Helldivers 2 player on Steam, you’ll have to sign up for a PlayStation account starting May 6th or June 4th, respectively.

The statement states that the change aims to help hold players accountable for abusive behavior.

Gamers are furious about the change, as many do not own a PlayStation console and do not need a PlayStation account.

They also believe that PlayStation is asking this just to collect player data.

These people have been critical of the game, including those who have spent over 100 hours playing it.

This is because people think the change will reduce the number of players and create another barrier to gaming.

One user wrote: “PSN requirement all of a sudden? Yes, it’s not happening. I contacted Steam support as soon as I was informed and requested a refund.

“Under no circumstances will I be forced to have a PSN account for a product that never informed us that this could become a requirement in the future.

“It is a deceptive business practice and I will not tolerate it.”
