PLAYSTATION recently came under fire after it was announced that PS console exclusive Helldivers 2 would require a PSN account even if you were playing via Steam.
Around 120 countries do not have PlayStation accounts available, meaning that after the change they would no longer have access to your game.
Steam developer Valve began issuing refunds for Helldivers 2 no matter how many hours people had played, which caused PlayStation to backtrack on the decision.
Gamers thought that would be the end of the saga, with Sony now realizing that there are thousands of gamers who have access to Steam but not PSN.
However, this appears not to be the case, as another PS console exclusive could suffer a similar fate.
The Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut will be released on Steam this week, launching in Friday, May 16, 2024.
Pre-orders for the game have been available for some time now and many people have purchased the game ready for release.
However, people living in countries that don’t have access to PSN began to notice that their purchase was being automatically refunded.
Countries around the world are affected by the refunds, including Estonia, Jamaica, Nigeria and the Philippines.
A warning message has appeared on the Steam page that says: “Third-party account required: PlayStation Network (online multiplayer, PlayStation overlay) (supports Steam account linking).”
Although it is largely a single-player experience, Ghost of Tsushima includes an online co-op mode, called Legends.
This makes it clear why many people are getting refunds for their orders.
