ASSASSIN’S Creed is Ubisoft’s long-running open-world series, and the next entry is coming this year.
A long-awaited entry set in 1579 feudal Japan has been revealed to be officially called Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
In a brief showcase, we saw the game’s first trailer – outside of the 2022 teaser – and gathered some new information.
Shadows will feature two playable protagonists, a samurai and a shinobi.
The samurai, Yasuke, is based on a real person of the same name who was the first black samurai, and the ninja is an original character named Naoe.
The showcase suggests they will have two very distinct playstyles, like Jacob and Evie from Assassin’s Creed Syndicate.
Yasuke will be much more focused on combat, while Naoe will rely on stealth to get through the game.
Like other entries in the Assassin’s Creed series, it will feature real-life historical figures like Oda Nobunaga and Fujibayashi Nagato, who takes on the role of Naoe’s father.
The trailer also revealed that there will be three versions available at launch, including Standard, Gold and Ultimate editions, which will cost $69.99/£59.99, $109.99/£94.99 and $129.99/£114 .99 respectively.
There will also be a season pass that you can purchase separately that will provide future expansions, although it is included in the Gold and Ultimate editions.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be released for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in November 15, 2024.
