ONE of Nintendo’s most popular games is being remade, and fans will be able to play the remake later this month.
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is the most popular game in the Paper Mario series and will soon welcome a new generation of fans.
At the announcement, many people were excited to play a new version of a game from their youth and rushed to pre-order it.
However, some people’s pre-orders are being refunded and both platforms claim it is at Nintendo’s request.
Walmart and Amazon customers in the US reported canceling their orders, for the same reasons mentioned.
The emails sent by Walmart said: “We know you have been looking forward to purchasing Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (Nintendo Switch) online.
“Nintendo will currently only offer this item in stores.
“Although your pre-order has been cancelled, we hope to have this item in store on launch day, May 23, 2024. We hope you can stop by!”
Other online retailers still have pre-orders available for the next Paper Mario game, so it has not been confirmed that this change is at Nintendo’s request.
Sometimes retailers ship pre-orders online in advance to ensure players have the game on its release date.
This means that players may occasionally get games before their release date and start posting spoilers.
It’s possible that Nintendo hopes to reduce the chance of this happening by preventing online sales.
