PlayStation fans are delighted with the return of the beloved character in the next game

PLAYSTATION held its State of Play showcase last night, announcing a slew of new games coming to PS5, PS VR2 and PC this year.

One of the highlights of the 35-minute presentation was a new game that will bring back a beloved Sony character.

Astro Bot will be the next game to feature the cute robot Astro, who has become the in fact This generation’s PlayStation mascot.

The upcoming game will span six galaxies and over 80 levels, featuring a variety of biomes and references to other PlayStation games.

An announcement trailer for the game was shown at last night’s State of Play.

The trailer featured familiar platform gameplay with new twists, bosses, and environments.

The next game will add over 15 new abilities for Astro and over 70 new enemy types.

The trailer also revealed that Astro Bot will be released in September 6, 2024with pre-orders opening in a week.

Astro’s last appearance in a game was in 2020, which instantly turned him into the PS5 symbol that gamers recognize today.

He’s the star of Astro’s Playroom, the short game that comes pre-installed on all PS5 consoles and serves as a tech demo for Sony’s DualSense controller.

The character first appeared in 2013 in The Playroom, a collection of casual augmented reality minigames released for PS4.

It was a compilation of demos aimed at showing off the PlayStation Camera’s motion sensor, an AR accessory that Sony was releasing at the time.

Later in 2018, PlayStation released a full game featuring Astro called Astro Bot Rescue Mission, a launch title for its first PS VR headset for PS4.

PS5 players loved the pre-installed Astro’s Playroom game, which has since earned a user score of 9/10 on review aggregator Metacritic, with a very high rating of 83 from critics.

Unlike Astro’s last release, Astro Bot won’t be a free tech demo, but a full-fledged (and full-priced) game.

The next Astro Bot game will be a regular PS5 title and not a PS VR2 game as some players expected.

Astro Bot pre-orders will launch in June 7, 2024and the price of the game has not yet been revealed.
