EA recently changed the name of the FIFA series following a public rift with the football federation.

Now called EA Sports FC, no matter what name EA uses, its games are consistently the most popular among football fans.

UFL is built on one of the leading gaming engines, Unreal Engine 5

For its part, the football federation said it will create its own series under the name FIFA with a new developer, but this has not yet been announced.

The closest any football game has come to taking on EA’s popularity was Konami’s eFootball, which previously published PES.

Many wanted another option for their football gaming desires, away from EA’s dominance.

This has led to independent developers taking responsibility, including UFL, an upcoming free-to-play football game backed by Cristiano Ronaldo.

A group of investors, including Ronaldo, provided $40 million in funding for the game, and it is now entering open beta.

This means that UFL is offering any Xbox Series X|S or PS5 player the chance to play the game before its release.

UFL does not yet have a set release date, but it is confirmed for release in 2024.

If you want to get your first look at UFL before it launches later this year, there are a few steps you need to take.

Firstly, navigate to the UFL store page via your console, either through PlayStation or the Microsoft Store.

You can then pre-download the beta, ready for when it goes live.

The beta version will last from Friday, June 7, 2024, until Sunday, June 9, 2024, and you can play UFL as much as you want within this period.

You will be able to play UFL in single-player or local multiplayer mode, but there will be no online modes during the beta test.
