NINTENDO has announced for the first time a new entry in the Metroid Prime series with the Metroid Prime 4 logo.

That was in 2017, and since then Nintendo has changed studios and started the game from scratch.

Many believed that Metroid Prime 4 would never be released and that Nintendo would quietly cancel the project.

Hope was restored when, in early 2023, Nintendo released a remaster of the original Metroid Prime, which was hugely successful.

Fans thought we would at least get remasters for Prime 2 and 3, even if Prime 4 never saw the light of day.

However, we were all proven wrong when the company showed its first trailer for the game, now called Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, at the June 2024 Nintendo Direct.

Like the other entries in the Metroid Prime series, it is a first-person shooter featuring series protagonist Samus Aran.

The platforming looks as smooth as ever as Samus traverses a war-torn alien planet, fighting space pirates along the way.

A two-minute trailer was shown giving fans a preview of the upcoming game and the mysterious new protagonist.

The only disappointment from the trailer was that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond won’t be released this year, but that’s to be expected.

The trailer ends by revealing that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will be released in 2025 exclusively for Nintendo Switch, which is still sooner than we thought.
