DRIVING is my thing, and when you love racing games like I do, you end up spending a lot on the latest technology.

I cornered in Gran Turismo 7 with my T300 RS. I won first place in F1 24 with my 488 GT3.

All of these wheels are supported by my T818 Direct Drive for a real feel. Needless to say, I care about my driving experience.

I spent a few weeks with the Evo Racing 32T Leather, a new Thrustmaster steering wheel designed for rally games.

With this steering wheel, Thrustmaster caters to gamers who want to customize their simulated driving experience to the limit.

Given my expert impressions, let’s start with the crown.

It has an excellent finish, with a very smooth leather that is pleasant to the touch.

I wore gloves when using it, which in addition to being recommended to keep the steering wheel safe, also kept the leather pleasant to the touch.

The two textured pentagon seams, top and bottom, stand out, which not only look good, but also help with grip.

Coming from a GT-designed steering wheel, the Evo Racing 32R Leather’s steering can feel a little big and cause oversteer.

Not ideal for players like Assetto Corsa Competizione: its element is rally games like EA Sports WRC.

The shape makes it easier to control the car in curves and on curbs, even on these circuits.

Additionally, the front buttons are excellent. Solid, not unstable, but not too hard either.

The diamond-textured left stick is pleasant to the touch and is very precise and multidirectional. However, the right control is missing.

It has several functional and programmable buttons. In Assetto Corsa Competizione I used them to adjust the braking distribution and engine map.

The paddle shifters on the Evo Racing 32R Leather are particularly prominent, which is convenient for a steering wheel designed primarily for rallying, especially since you need instant speed and button availability.

They may feel a little cramped in the basic configuration, but there is room for customization.

The right fit and the curved shape of the wheel, which perfectly accommodates your fingers, make this one of the best I’ve tested recently.

The LEDs also change to blue when you need to shift gears, providing a clear visual indicator.

It’s a smart solution, possibly leading even those who have never played the manual to take the leap with greater confidence.

Assembly is immediate thanks to the quick release system recently adopted by Thrustmaster from the T818. It’s just four screws and a plug, so it’s really easy to put it all together.

The option to use the classic adapter is still there and included in the package.

The particularity of the Evo Racing 32R Leather is the switchable central hub, which can be connected to other steering wheels for different configurations.

I like the idea of such a multifaceted device, especially since the central hub has lots of programmable buttons and LEDs.

This makes it a particularly suitable solution if you want a long-term steering wheel, and it’s good for many different racing games.

The price is quite high at £270/$300, so it’s up to you to decide if it’s worth the cost.

But Thrustmaster’s track record speaks for itself, you’ll get the excellent build quality behind the Evo Racing 32R Leather and some cool features too.

That’s enough to put it among my favorite recent steering wheels.
